Over 15,000 appear for MPSC exam in city

Kolhapur: More than 15,000 candidates appeared for the Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) examination that was held on Sunday across the city’s different examination centres.According to the district collectorate office, as many as 56 centres were finalized for the MPSC examination that was held in the city. The exam was conducted for various different posts under the MPSC.Staff members from the civic administration’s revenue department looked after the arrangements for the MPSC examination, said an official from the district collectorate office. To keep a check on copying taking place in the examination, flying squads were formed to keep a check on the menace for the exam.The official added that in the morning session, around 15,471 aspirants were present for the general knowledge paper of the examination, while the afternoon session of the exam witnessed 15,408 candidates.Aspirants were given entry to their respective examination centres from 9am onwards on Sunday, while the actual examination started from 10am onwards, said the official from the district collectorate office.According to the official, for the various different posts, as many as 18,270 candidates had filled in the applications, of which 2,799 remained absent for the first paper that was held in the morning session, while 2,862 were absent for the second paper that was held in the afternoon session.City colleges like Mahavir College, Vivekanand College and Gokhale College among others were the designated centres for the said examination.
