Enthusiatic senior citizens can soon apply for a PhD

Kolhapur: Senior Citizens will soon be able to apply for a PhD, as the University Grants Commission (UGC) has constituted a committee, said UGC vice-chairman Bhushan Patwardhan on Saturday, in a program at the Shivaji University, Kolhapur (SUK). 110 students were conferred with their degrees during the ceremony.History seminar takes place: An international one-day seminar on history was conducted at the city-based Vivekanand College recently. It added that Anil Sahasrabudhe, Chairman of the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), was the chief guest of the ceremony. The scheme is supported by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) and had organized the digital photography course earlier this year, free of cost for these students. DIPEX is a state-level exhibition-cum-competition of the working model prepared by Engineering and Polytechnic students from Maharashtra and Goa.DKTE graduation ceremony: The Ichalkaranji-based DKTE Society’s Textile and Engineering Institute conducted its first-ever graduation ceremony on Sunday, read a statement from the college.

He added that such candidates will not have the restriction of age and education, as long as research remains their first priority.Patwardhan said that many experts would like to pursue research in their fields and have no concern for its added advantage for work or any other motives. Such candidates need to be encouraged and hence the PhD rules will be loosened a little.KIT wins at DIPEX: Kolhapur Institute of Technology’s (KIT) College of Engineering won the DIPEX project competition, which was recently held at the Nanded-based Shri Guru Gobind Singhji Institute of Engineering and Technology college, read a statement from KIT.It added that under the theme of betterment of rural life, KIT’s Prajakta Durgavale’s mulching paper spreading machine project won the first prize.800 participants from 113 colleges had participated in the competition.
