Kolhapur: Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi (VBA) will eat into the votes of the Congress-NCP alliance and ultimately benefit the BJP-Shiv Sena alliance in Maharashtra, Republican Party of India (A) chief Ramdas Athavale said in Kolhapur on Monday, while attending a party programme ahead of Lok Sabha polls.Commenting on crowd pulling rallies by VBA leader Prakash Ambedkar, he said, “The crowds are not necessarily converted to votes. We have tested this earlier also. We had formed alliances of various political parties in the past and the crowds used to attend our rallies but the voter turnout was meagre. In this case also the situation will be the same.” One thing, however, is sure, he said. “VBA will eat into the vote share of Congress and NCP alliance and help the BJP-Shiv Sena garner more votes and win maximum seats in Maharashtra.”Stating that he expects BJP-Shiv Sena alliance to provide two seats for his party, he said, “We expect the alliance will consider our demand of two Lok Sabha seats from Maharashtra. BJP has given one seat from its quota for Rajya Sabha to our party and now Shiv Sena should give us one seat for Lok Sabha. We are eyeing Mumbai South Lok Sabha seat for our party, which the Shiv Sena, we expect, will give up for us.
