KOLHAPUR: The Kolhapur police , which has the Kolhapur and Hatkanangle Lok Sabha constituencies under its jurisdiction, have geared up to maintain law and order during the elections.Police have prepared a list of 3,500 criminals and have initiated a process to extern them from the district during the period.“We have also prepared a proposal to invoke MCOCA against 38 criminals from eight gangs and take action against them,” a senior police officer said.“A team of 12 personnel, including three inspectors, has been set up to provide approvals or permissions required from the police department during the election period,” he added.“We have issued notices to 1,034 people to surrender their weapons with the nearest police stations during the election period. The weapons will be returned after the end of the model code of conduct. We have cancelled weapon licences of 10 people,” the officer said.
