Claiming harassment by police, man tries to end life

"He came to Tembaliwadi bridge area in the afternoon and when the Miraj-Kolhapur train was passing by, he suddenly jumped towards the track and was injured in the incident. Passers-by rushed for help and took him to the CPR civil hospital," a railway police officer said."The letter that Shinde was carrying stated the reason behind his extreme step. As per the letter, on March 5, the Karad traffic police falsely booked him and his brother when they were riding a motorcycle. There was some altercation between the traffic policeman and the duo over some missing document following which the cop abused and manhandled them. They were later taken to police station and booked for obstructing government officer from doing his duty," the officer said, adding that they are investigating the case and will take action as per the law.According to Karad police, a case has been registered against the Shinde brothers for manhandling a traffic policeman. "When the traffic cop asked them to pay a fine of Rs200, the duo manhandled him and later attempted to run away from the spot following which a case was registered against them," an officer from Karad police station said.
