Cluster initiative to continue for March semester exams

KOLHAPUR: The Shivaji University Kolhapur (SUK) will continue with its cluster initiative in the March semester examination, wherein appointments of supervisors are done. The senior supervisors require senior authorities from the colleges and the university departments. The exams are scheduled to commence from March 26.The exam department said the cluster initiative has helped a lot in resolving the issue of attendance of supervisors during the examinations.An official from the department said senior supervisors hold an important place in the examination process. For smooth conduct of the exams, the university needs at least 325 supervisors. However, many of the senior authorities are unwilling to participate in the process, resulting in last-minute burden on a few people.

The exams are scheduled to commence from March 26.The exam department said the cluster initiative has helped a lot in resolving the issue of attendance of supervisors during the examinations.An official from the department said senior supervisors hold an important place in the examination process. The senior supervisors require senior authorities from the colleges and the university departments. However, many of the senior authorities are unwilling to participate in the process, resulting in last-minute burden on a few people. The formation of clusters is necessary considering the depleting number of supervisors.The official said every cluster has a lead college or department, which looks after the supervisor requirement in their cluster during the examinations. They manage the supervisors and assign their duty, which ensures that the exam process goes smoothly.The university has asked the coordinators of clusters to take a meeting with the principals or the heads of departments about appointing supervisors for exam duties, so that the last-minute chaos is avoided.According to a list on the university website, the division has 38 clusters for conventional courses such as arts, commerce and science. Sixteen clusters are in Kolhapur district, while Sangli and Satara has 11 clusters each. For engineering, architecture and pharmacy courses there are 11 clusters.The SUK has 283 examination centres across Kolhapur, Sangli and Satara districts and 40 departments on the campus. For smooth conduct of the exams, the university needs at least 325 supervisors.
