KOLHAPUR: The Shiv Sena's electoral alliance with the BJP is for "Dev, Desh and Dharma", Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray said on Sunday, adding that he wanted a Ram temple in Ayodhya to become the symbol of "Ramrajya".Thackeray made the comments while speaking at a rally here in the presence of chief minister Devendra Fadnavis here. This was the first joint address by the BJP and the Shiv Sena in the state following their decision to contest the Lok Sabha polls together. Both Fadnavis and Thackeray used the platform to target NCP chief Sharad Pawar. "Sena entered into an alliance with the BJP to make Narendra Modi the Prime Minister again. The alliance is for Dev, Desh and Dharma. I took up the Ram Mandir issue as I want the shrine to become the symbol of Ramrajya," Thackeray said.On Pawar, the Sena chief said the NCP leader had "spent his entire life destroying Maharashtra ". He said,"The NCP-Congress alliance is a punctured tyre. We have a candidate for the prime minister's post. Pawar and Mayawati had both dreamt of becoming the prime minister but have now withdrawn from the fight."The NCP chief recently said the Centre had accepted his suggestion to give a free hand to all three wings of the Indian armed forces while striking against terror. Thackeray used the statement to take a jibe at Pawar. "I now urge the BJP not to induct Pawar into the party," he said.Fadnavis said Pawar had turned into the "extra player of a cricket team" after the veteran politician announced his withdrawal from the Lok Sabha election contest. "The captain of the team had arrived as the opening batsman. But he is now the 12th man," he said.Fadnavis said the Modi government had helped sugar cane growers in the region. "We accept that we do not know much about agriculture, but the government under Modi has taken several decisions for sugar cane farmers. There is no longer a need to launch protests just to secure fair prices for farm produce. The Modi government provided a financial package when the sugar cane sector was in crisis. It set the minimum selling price at Rs 31 per kg, which has happened for the first time," he said. The chief minister also slammed Congress' Sam Pitroda's statement on the Balakot air-strikes."There are only two parties that are demanding proof of the air strike - one is Pakistan and the other is the Congress. Our jawans destroyed the bases of terrorists. But the Congress leadership lacked guts. Modi has guts," he said.
