Over 29,000 apply for inclusion in voters’ list

Officials attached with the election process said the last dates for voter registrations in northern Maharashtra regions were March 15 and March 16, respectively. Kolhapur North saw as many as 3,523 registrations for name inclusion.Satish Dhumal, deputy election officer, told TOI that voters’ list will be finalized by April 4. Kolhapur: As many as 29,820 new voters have applied for including their names in the voters’ list the registration for which closed on Monday, as per report from the district election office said.According to the report, as many as 23,219 people approached their respective voting centres for registration via offline mode, while a total of 6,601 people registered their names via online mode.The report added that most of the registrations were done from Kolhapur South with 5,441 registrations followed by Hatkanagale with 4,483 registrations. The voters will be able to exercise their voting right during the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.“The voters registering after March 25 will not be able to vote in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections,” he added.“Elections in the district will be held in one phase on April 23 and the last dates of voter registrations was March 25,” he said, adding that the electoral rolls will be finalized on April 4.The first two phases of elections cover the northern and eastern parts of the state.
