Kolhapur citizens protest poor water supply

Citizens from the nearby Mangalwar Peth had protested last month for the same reason.A citizen participating in the protest said, "A few days ago, the taps received water at seven in the morning. Now, the water is being supplied in the afternoon and that too for half an hour.

We want the timings to be changed since women have to face a lot of trouble due to the shortage and discrepancies in the timing of water supply."Local corporators too thronged the spot and pulled up the civic administration for poor management of water supply.Responsing to the concerns of the citizens, Kulkarni said that the water supply was inadequate due to technical glitches at Balinga pumping house.Assuring that the water supply would regain normalcy from Sunday, Kulkarni said that if citizens still complained about shortage of water, then the supply timings would be changed.He further added that officials of the water supply department would keep a close tab on the supply conditions in the internal and old parts of the city since the same problem has been reported twice in the last one month.Local corporator Sachin Patil and former corporator Vinayak Phalke claimed that they had informed the water supply department about the need for changing the timing of the water supply and inadequate shortage.
