Kolhapur: Nationalist Congress Party chief Sharad Pawar is going to make his presence felt for the nomination filling of sitting Satara MP Udayanraje Bhonsale on April 2.Later in the evening, Pawar will arrive in Kolhapur and discuss the campaign strategy with workers of the Congress, NCP, Peasants and Workers Party and other allied local outfits. On the same day, NCP candidate Dhananjay Mahadik will file his nomination for the Kolhapur Lok Sabha (LS) constituency. His nomination filing event will be a simple one as no rally and show of strength will be held, as Mahadik revealed the same after a meeting with party workers. Mahadik and the NCP are planning to hold a grand public meeting, which Pawar and senior leaders of the Congress are expected to attend. The NCP is trying to rope in Congress president Rahul Gandhi or Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi for Mahadik’s campaign rally.NCP MLA and senior leader Hasan Mushrif said, “Our party president is going to hold a discussion with 2000 workers of all the parties of the Maha Aghadi on April 2. He has agreed for two rallies, one each for the Kolhapur and Hatkanangale constituencies. His guidance is for the workers of all the parties will help us win the elections. Also, he will resolve the differences among local leaders, which may affect the outcome of the election.”Mushrif hinted that Pawar will try to resolve the differences between Congress MLC Satej Patil and Mahadik. Patil’s supporters are campaigning for rival Shiv Sena’s candidate Sanjay Mandlik. NCP had played a move to induct Patil’s father and educationist D Y Patil to force the Congress MLC to support Mahadik.
