Kolhapur: Four people, including the wife of a notorious gang leader, have been arrested for allegedly providing a poisonous chemical to her husband so that he could attempt suicide inside the police station.A week ago, two men, Ananda Jadhav, alias Germany, head of the notorious gang named the Germany Gang of Ichalkaranji, and his accomplice Akshay Gondugale, tried to end their lives by drinking pesticide while they were held at Shahpur police station.They were found unconscious while in custody and were rushed to IGM Hospital for treatment."We have found that the pesticide was kept inside the toilet of the police station by Suman Ananda Jadhav, age 22, wife of Ananda Jadhav, alias Germany, an officer from the Shahpur police station said. She was helped by three others. The plan was to get them out on bail, citing danger to their lives and showing the police in a bad light. They wanted to obstruct the investigation going on against them for the abduction and robbery case and other cases pending against them," said the officer from Shahpur Police Station, requesting anonymity.According to the cops, 15 people allegedly linked to the gang are in police custody for abducting a real estate developer and robbing him of valuable items and jewelry worth Rs 12 lakh. The Kolhapur police administration has invoked the stringent Maharashtra Control of Organized Crime Act against all of them.The cop also claimed that five more people from the gang area have been arrested in connection with the abduction and robbery case.
