Kolhapur: Unidentified men broke open an income tax official house in Sadar Bazaar area and looted cash worth Rs 2.35 lakh and a mobile phone, amounting to Rs 2.50 lakh on Tuesday.According to Shahipuri police station officials, the complainant has been identified as Vittal Baburao Sargar (53), a resident of Manish Park, Sadar Bazar. Sargar works an income tax department official in Jabalpur. "Last week he had come to the city while his family was in Jabalpur. On returning from a morning walk on Tuesday, he found the front door of his bungalow open. On entering the house he found everything thrown on the floor. He rushed to check the cupboard where all valuables were kept and found that cash and his mobile phone was missing," a police official said."We have gathered all the essential information to investigate the case further. We suspect that the culprit was keeping a close watch on Sargar and had planned the theft beforehand," another police officer said.
