"At the Agalgaav turn in Kavathemahankal taluka of Sangli district, the driver of the minibus lost control and collided with the truck," sub-inspector Sachin Vasmale of the Kavathemahankal police station said.Minibus driver Sandip Yadav, who suffered minor injuries, fled after the accident. Kolhapur: Seven people, including two children, were killed and nine others were injured when their minibus rammed a stationary truck on the Miraj-Pandharpur highway in Sangli district around 3am of Friday.All those killed and injured belonged to two families and hail from the Gandhinagar-Valiwade area of Kolhapur.Police said 19 people from the Hegde and Devkule families were travelling in the minibus from Pandharpur. A search has been launched for him. The seventh victim, Rekha Devkule (40), succumbed to her injuries while being treated at the Miraj hospital.Snehal Hegde (20) and Kajal Krushnat Hegde (19) were seriously injured while Savitri Awale (55), Sheetal Hegde (42), Sonal Kamble (36), Komal Hegde (20), Kalpana Babar (40), Anmol Hegde (12), Gauri Hegde (7) and Shubham Kamble (10) received minor injuries. The injured were admitted to the Miraj civil hospital.The working members of the two families were involved in small-time jobs, their neighbours in Valiwade said.Police said Nandkumar Hegde (37), Renuka Hegde (35), Aditya Hegde (12), Lakhan Sankaji (36), Vinayak Londhe (40) and Gaurav Narade (7) died on the spot.
