MIDC initiates action to take back 407 unused plots

The MIDC has not initiated action to take back the plots.Out of these 407 plots, 91 plots are vacant and till date the MIDC has taken back 29 plots. We have found a total 91 plots vacant in Kolhapur region of which 57 are in Kolhapur district and 34 are in Satara district. "The plots taken back will be auctioned as per the rule and highest bidder will get it for setting up an industrial unit," he added. Maximum vacant plots were found in Kagal (23) and Gadhinglaj (13). "Even after introducing scheme, there were 407 units from Kolhapur region, 257 plots from Kolhapur district and 150 plots from Satara district found either partially constructed or vacant, but did not participate in the scheme.

Kolhapur: The Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) has found 407 plots in Kolhapur region — comprising Kolhapur and Satara districts — that neither has been developed, nor building completion certificates (BCC) have been obtained by the owners.These are the plots that did not participate in MIDC's amnesty scheme Udyog Sanjivani that was launched recently. The MIDC has not initiated action to take back the plots.Out of these 407 plots, 91 plots are vacant and till date the MIDC has taken back 29 plots. The remaining plots will be taken back within a month and auction of these plots will be done after completing the procedure as per government norms.Ashok Chavan, regional officer of Kolhapur MIDC, said, "After the scheme was launched in 2015, we conducted a survey and found that 407 plots has either been partially constructed or has remained vacant. We have found a total 91 plots vacant in Kolhapur region of which 57 are in Kolhapur district and 34 are in Satara district. Maximum vacant plots were found in Kagal (23) and Gadhinglaj (13). We have taken back 29 plots till date and by end of month will take all back all the 57 plots from the owners."He added, "Kagal MIDC is one of the major industrial areas in the district where number of entrepreneurs are interested in setting up their production units but are waiting due to lack of plots. The drive taken by MIDC will help in addressing this problem."As per the rule, after the plot is allotted to a person, he has to develop it and take a BCC within 3 to 5 years — depending on the zone. In August 2013, the MIDC had given deadline to all such plot owners to obtain BCC as early as possible."Even after introducing scheme, there were 407 units from Kolhapur region, 257 plots from Kolhapur district and 150 plots from Satara district found either partially constructed or vacant, but did not participate in the scheme. So, we have started taking the plots back," said Chavan."The plots taken back will be auctioned as per the rule and highest bidder will get it for setting up an industrial unit," he added.
