Govt forms panel for farm loan waiver

Kolhapur: To ensure implementation of farm loan waiver , state government has formed the committees at taluka, district and divisional level comprising officials of cooperative, district bank and revenue department on Tuesday, setting September 15 as deadline for submission of loan waiver forms.As per government guidelines regarding the implementation of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Shetkari Sanmam Yojana, dated September 8, the farm loan waiver committees will verify the forms submitted by farmers.Chief minister Devendra Fadnavis, earlier this week, had announced that farmer loan waiver will be ensured before Diwali.The district deputy registrar, Arun Kakades, said, "The committees will appoint the auditors to verify forms of farmers credentials. "It is a challenging work for the government machinery to complete the verification and clear farmer's accounts before Diwali as per Chief Minister's promise.A government official said, "Considering the number of forms and time required for the entire verification process, all departments have to tightrope to complete loan waiver. The government has received large number of applications than its primary estimate.
