KOLHAPUR: The Shivaji University , Kolhapur bagged 12 prizes in the inter-university youth festival Indradhanush, to emerge runners up. The festival was organised at Vasantrao Naik Marathwada Agricultural University in Parbhani from November 5 to 9. A team of 40 members from SUK had participated in the festival.R V Gurav, director, student welfare, said, "There were around 25 events like solo and group performances in folk dance, classical singing, classical dance, one-act play, street play, debates and group song and folk orchestra."He said, "Our team participated in 19 events and won prizes in 12 events. We won prizes in folk music and classical singing. The team also managed to bag prizes in group song, one-act play, folk dance and miming."Before Diwali this year, the university had invited experts from Mumbai to scrutinize the likely participants in the team. A camp was also organized for students to polish their skills.The participants were provided with all facilities during the camp, Gurav said. He further said the university team is now preparing for the west zone youth festival to be conducted at Udaipur in Rajasthan , next month.
