Two charred to death after luxury bus catches fire

After noticing fire, the driver managed to help 16 passengers to get down from the bus but these two persons were fast asleep at the back seat of the bus.The deceased have been identified as Vicky Madan Bhat (24, resident of Vaidu wadi, Indira Nagar, lane no. 2, Hadapsar) and Bunty Raj Bhat (25, Roshanpura, Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh).Primary investigation suggests that a technical problem in the bus engine might have led to the fire, said police.R R Patil, deputy superintendent of Police, Shahuwadi division said, "The bus started from Goa at around 9 pm for Mumbai and after travelling for sometime the bus halted at Kankavali for dinner. After taking meal the bus started for Kolhapur and when bus was crossing the Ghat section area in the Gaganbawada taluka, the driver saw fumes coming out from the engine.He immediately stopped the bus near a temple at Longe village in Ghat area and got down from the bus and found that the smoke's intensity was increasing. He immediately alerted the passengers who were fast asleep and helped them to get down.A total 16 passengers out of 18 managed to get down but by that time the bus caught fire. The bus was completely burnt and the bodies of two youths were charred to death.
