In this picture circulated on the social media, Amit Mitra is seen with Mehul Choksi The West Bengal unit of the BJP has stepped up its attack on the Trinamool Congress government by circulating a photograph that shows the State’s Finance Minister Amit Mitra along with Mehul Choksi, the uncle of Nirav Modi. State BJP president Dilip Ghosh uploaded the picture on social media. The picture was from an event during the Bengal Global Business Summit held in Mumbai on July 4, 2017. The Communist Party of India (Marxist) also used the opportunity to target the Trinamool Congress government. “How will Amit Babu react to them? Wht will the so called leaders of TMC have to say to the camaraderie & closeness that was evident between Amit Mitra & Mehul Chokshi during Bengal Business Summit organised in Mumbai on 4/07/17,” CPI(M) leader Sujan Chakraborty said. “This is no secret. The information is on the Government website. Do I have a personal relationship with him?” Mr. Mitra told journalists. Meanwhile, the photographs were removed from the Bengal Global Business Summit website. Unperturbed by the controversy, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee continued to target the Centre on the PNB fraud.
