Nabaneeta first woman to head Presi alumni unit

KOLKATA: Author and former teacher Nabaneeta Dev Sen on Friday became the first woman to be elected president of the Presidency College Alumni Association since its inception in 1951. She is the right person to lead the alumni association because of her stature,” he said.The newly elected president, on her part, said she had faith in the association members. Our glorious past should be aptly reflected in whatever we do now and lead us to a brighter future. “They are showing a lot of eagerness to do something for Presidency. She is the right person for the job and will lead the association successfully,” said Mitra.According to association secretary Bibhas Choudhury , Dev Sen’s election will provide a fresh impetus to the association.

Soon after attending her first alumni association meeting on Friday evening, Dev Sen said she felt honoured to have been given the responsibility and would try and work in close association with the university administration and teachers.“We must try and see how we can make the university live up to its name. Our glorious past should be aptly reflected in whatever we do now and lead us to a brighter future. As the alumni association president, my job will be to figure out the best possible way to do it,” said Dev Sen, a former student of English at the erstwhile Presidency College.Outgoing president and former advocate-general Jayanta Mitra said Dev Sen’s election as the president would help forge a close bond with the university administration. “Her stature and abilities are beyond question. She is the right person for the job and will lead the association successfully,” said Mitra.According to association secretary Bibhas Choudhury , Dev Sen’s election will provide a fresh impetus to the association. “We have started discussing issues. She is the right person to lead the alumni association because of her stature,” he said.The newly elected president, on her part, said she had faith in the association members. “They are showing a lot of eagerness to do something for Presidency. Together, we hope to be able to work efficiently,” she said.
