KOLKATA: A Class-XI student was allegedly attacked with a knife by his senior of a reputable Dum Dum school on Monday after an argument over a seat in the schoolbus.The 16-year-old student, who received several cuts and bruises on his neck and shoulder after the accused allegedly slashed him repeatedly, had to be admitted to a Dum Dum hospital. Police detained the accused student on Monday evening.The incident took place around 4.45pm when they were returning home in the schoolbus. "Trouble broke out when the Class-XI student took the seat beside the accused, a Class-XII student, who wanted her girlfriend, a Class-X student of the same school, to sit there. When the senior student asked the victim to vacate the seat, a scuffle broke out. The other students initially stopped them," said a source.Later when the bus was about to start from the school gate, the accused student got off the bus, rushed to a roadside stall, picked up a potato peeler and attacked the victim several times. "The driver, helper and other students rushed to the duo and dragged the accused out of the bus," another student of Class XI said.The victim was then rushed to the Dum Dum Municipal Hospital where he received at least four stitches on her neck and left shoulder. The accused was detained in the evening from his house near Nagerbazar.
