Since there was no injury either to his face or near the eyes, we suspect something was wrong. Faizal’s eyelids were stitched when his body was handed over to us after the postmortem. Feroz and his brother, Azad Ali , took pictures of the boy’s eyes and showed it to local doctors. If necessary, the body should be exhumed and another post-mortem done,” said Azad. “All of them said as there was no major injury around the eyes, there was no reason for them to be stitched or the eyeballs to go missing.

KOLKATA: Deceased three-yearold Faizal Ali’s parents, who had alleged their child’s eyes were gouged out after his death at SSKM Hospital on July 10, demanded on Saturday that their son’s body be exhumed for a thorough investigation. They urged the police, with whom they have lodged a complaint, to investigate why Faizal’s eyeballs were missing after his body was handed to them after the post-mortem, though they had reportedly seen no injury to the eyes at the time of his death. The post-mortem report is yet to reach them. “We only wish to find out the truth. Faizal’s eyelids were stitched when his body was handed over to us after the postmortem. Since there was no injury either to his face or near the eyes, we suspect something was wrong. When we opened the stitches, we found that eyeballs missing,” said Faizal’s father Feroz Ali.On July 8, Faizal was playing near his home at Kamarhati , when he was hit by a car and received injuries on his chest and the back of his head. He was taken to Sagar Datta Medical College and then shifted to SSKM on July 9. He died at SSKM a day later. The family claimed to have contacted the hospital, which apparently failed to come up with a clear explanation. Feroz and his brother, Azad Ali , took pictures of the boy’s eyes and showed it to local doctors. “All of them said as there was no major injury around the eyes, there was no reason for them to be stitched or the eyeballs to go missing. If necessary, the body should be exhumed and another post-mortem done,” said Azad. SSKM authorities on Saturday refused to comment.
