CM's two-city Europe trip starts tomorrow

KOLKATA: West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee announced on Friday she would be travelling to Germany and Italy to attract more investments to the state.Banerjee will be accompanied by finance minister Amit Mitra , chief secretary Malay De and the finance secretary during her September 16-28 visit to Frankfurt and Milan. Here, my going is important because they (the delegates) had come here. It will include home secretary Atri Bhattacharya, state security adviser Surajit Kar Purkayastha, state DG Virendra, ADG (law and order) Anuj Sharma and city police chief Rajeev Kumar.I had a request from Poland, but I sent state power minister Sovandeb Chattopadhyay there. She has been invited by delegates who attended the Bengal Global Business Summit in January.“We will be holding two meetings — one in Frankfurt and another in Milan,” Banerjee said at Nabanna.The CM said she goes abroad once a year to attract investments.

The GoM under state education minister Partha Chatterjee’s chairmanship will include ministers like Subrata Mukherjee (panchayat), Firhad Hakim (urban development), Suvendu Adhikari (transport), Aroop Biswas (PWD) and six others.The 15-member committee of officers will be headed by additional chief secretary ( irrigation , waterways and agriculture) Naveen Prakash.
