RK Mission gets new bldg on Narendrapur campus

KOLKATA: Ramakrishna Mission Residential College Narendrapur got a boost to its infrastructure with the inauguration of an eight-storey building on Sunday. "Organizations under the Ramakrishna Mission order have been engaged in shaping lives of people from all walks of the society. "We at Ramakrishna Mission believe in building character in the right direction. We need need to take up more such inclusive journey," he said.Regular classes will continue at the old building of the autonomous institute. But my wife who hails from Kolkata suggested Kolkata centre this time.

KOLKATA: Ramakrishna Mission Residential College Narendrapur got a boost to its infrastructure with the inauguration of an eight-storey building on Sunday. The new building will house smart rooms, an integrated library, research departments and an auditorium among other facilities.The foundation stone for this annex building was laid on February 5, 2015.Christened Sarada Mandir, the G+7 storey building will cater to both undergraduate and post-graduate students. The facility measures over 8,000 square feet.The state education department had chipped in with Rs 9 crore while Mumbai-based social worker Ramu Sitaram Deora had contributed Rs 4.31 crore."We at Ramakrishna Mission believe in building character in the right direction. Higher education is an essence and we hope this institute will contribute in that direction," said Srimat Swami Smaranandaji Maharaj, president Ramakrisha Math and Ram Krishna Mission, while inaugurating the building.Six smart classrooms, an integrated library with a seating capacity of 100, an auditorium that can accommodate 875 persons, an e-library with 50 computers are some of the facilities in the new building. "Organizations under the Ramakrishna Mission order have been engaged in shaping lives of people from all walks of the society. We need need to take up more such inclusive journey," he said.Regular classes will continue at the old building of the autonomous institute. Departments like the examination control and administration, including the office of the institute's principal Swami Bhudebananda , was relocated to the new unit."We have been contributing to various organizations or the Mission centres in other cities. But my wife who hails from Kolkata suggested Kolkata centre this time. I am pleased that we chose Narendrapur unit," Deora said. On Sunday Deora committed an additional sum of Rs 2.5 crore to the institute."We should grow up with honesty and have faith in God," said Swami Suviranandji Maharaj, general secretary of Ramakrishna Math and the Mission.The institute currently has 650 students. It imparts education in undergraduate and post-graduate courses in humanity and science subjects.
