Six injured in train attack

“Around 10-12 armed youths boarded the train soon after it left Dum Dum station. They created a ruckus in the crowded compartment and said the swords were not meant for violence. They attacked us when we asked them to get off at Belgharia station,” a passenger said.A large police contingent reached the spot to control the situation. Cops launched a hunt for the suspects.

KOLKATA: Passengers blocked the tracks at Sodepur station on Wednesday afternoon, disrupting Sealdah-Ranaghat train services, to protest against violence inside a running train’s compartment. As many as nine locals were cancelled due to the protest.According to passengers, at least six people — including two women — were wounded in the Up Barrackpore local when they protested against some youths boarding the compartments with swords. “Around 10-12 armed youths boarded the train soon after it left Dum Dum station. They created a ruckus in the crowded compartment and said the swords were not meant for violence. They attacked us when we asked them to get off at Belgharia station,” a passenger said.A large police contingent reached the spot to control the situation. Cops launched a hunt for the suspects.
