KOLKATA: The KMC has decided to crack down on illegal car parking across the city. We have noticed that the majority of Kolkata’s thoroughfares have been taken over by illegal parking. Illegal parking has also become a menace in places like Rashbehari Avenue, Asutosh Mukherjee Road, Raja Subodh Mullick Road and Beliaghata Main Road. We have thus asked the police to help us clean the streets by conducting a special drive against illegal parking ,” Hakim said.According to a car parking department official, major roads in Burrabazar and Jorasanko were under strict watch. Mayor Firhad Hakim on Monday held a meeting with the KMC car parking department and asked them to prepare a blueprint for the special drive Later, Hakim told the media that he had already asked Kolkata Police to assist the civic officials in the crackdown against illegal parking.
