However, Sengupta’s joining office was not without controversy. On Tuesday, an association member wrote to the EIMPA secretary, urging the body to lodge a police complaint to investigate the corruption charges against outgoing president Krishna Daga. Producer Shrikant Mohta, former EIMPA president, highlighted the organization’s “inaction” to lodge a police complaint against Daga for alleged misappropriation of funds. “In spite of lapse of seven days since his removal/resignation, the association had not proceeded to lodge a police complaint,” Mohta alleged in the letter. When TOI contacted Daga, he dismissed Mohta’s allegations. “There has to be a documentary proof by Shrikant Mohta to initiate any action against me. As a president, I have worked for the benefit of producers, who are EIMPA members. It is due to my efforts the rate of digital suppliers has been slashed. Making false allegations won’t take anyone anywhere,” he said. Sengupta said, “I am aware of Mohta’s allegation. Steps will be taken, keeping legal aspect in mind.”
