KOLKATA: A day after the mob vandalism, things were back on track at Institute of Child Health (ICH) on Friday. Patients lined up at the OPD counters since morning, while doctors , nurses and other employees went about with their routine work. The only concern for doctors, however, was the new infection in one-year-old Alia, who is on ventilation at the PICU (paediatric ICU) — the unit the mob had ransacked.“The child is now suffering from septicaemia and septic shock as we had feared after the mob had invaded the PICU with shoes and without any protective gown,” said Prabash Prasun Giri, the PICU in charge. Alia had undergone a high-risk gastric pullup surgery on Wednesday. The mob had vandalised the PICU after the death of a child. None has been arrested so far.
