Bengal: IPS officer Gaurav Dutt commits suicide

KOLKATA: IPS officer Gaurav Dutt(60), serving as an IGP allegedly committed suicide on Tuesday evening by slashing his wrist. He was declared brought dead at a city hospital.He was an officer of 1986 batch and was at the centre of controversy when clashes between CPM and Trinamool happened in Midnapore in 1999. The state government had placed him under compulsory waiting He was depressed and had joined a religious group Police said that an autopsy would be conducted tomorrow to ascertain the cause of death. At that time he was posted there only.
