KOLKATA: A day after the Alipore police registered a case of negligence in the death of a four-year-old child with special needs in a pool at a school, the police named the principal along with two others in the FIR.“We have registered the case under IPC section 304A based on the complaint filed by Sambuddha Ghosh’s father,” said a senior officer from Lalbazar . Sambuddha’s father, Subhajit — an IT executive with a Sector V company and a resident of Behala’s Silpara — had named the vice principal and the class teacher in his initial complaint.Police sources said initial investigations revealed that not all CCTV cameras were working on the campus. “The footage will be vital for this case. We have been told that on holidays and non-working days like the sports day — when the incident took place — cameras are usually switched off. Nevertheless, we have asked them to provide us hard disk of these CCTV cameras,” said a senior officer.The cops said they have already recorded the statement of the victim’s father. They will be speaking to the school authorities yet again on Monday, claimed sources. The initial post-mortem report has confirmed that the death was due to drowning.
