By: Anwar MoulickKOLKATA: A group of men reportedly barged into a gymnasium on Prince Anwar Shah Road , attacked the security guard and vandalised the place on Friday night.Based on a complaint lodged by Partha Sarathi Mazumdar, one of the directors of the gym , the police rounded up the main accused, Sheikh Karim who lives nearby, within hours. Before leaving, they also threatened the staff members with dire consequences, police added.Though dispute over money seemed the main reason behind the assault and vandalism, cops are probing whether there was any other motive that prompted Karim to carry out the attack.The authorities of the gymnasium, housed in a high-rise, declined to comment on either the vandalism or the assault.

He has been booked under sections 341 (wrongful restraint), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 427 (mischief causing damage), 506 (criminal intimidation) of Indian Penal Code Karim had allegedly demanded money from the gym authorities and subsequently, a dispute broke out over the amount to be paid to him, said police.According to the FIR registered on Friday, Karim and his henchmen barged into the gym, wrongfully restrained and assaulted Sagir Khan, a guard at Starmark Fitness Studio, and went on to vandalize the facility.
