Sovan Chatterjee steps down

Kolkata: Sovan Chatterjee has resigned from the post of the chairman of the Standing Committee on Fisheries on Tuesday. Chatterjee went to the office of the Speaker Biman Bandyopadhyay and submitted resignation on Tuesday afternoon. The members of the standing committee had complained to the Speaker about the absence of Chatterjee from the meetings. Chatterjee resigned as the minister for Fire and Emergency Services, Housing and Environment in November 2018. Since then he did not attend the meeting of the Standing Committee of Fisheries.
