Heavy rainfall triggers landslides on NH 10 restoration work on

Darjeeling: Heavy rainfall since Tuesday evening triggered landslides on the National Highway 10, which has been shut down. A landslide occurred at 29th Mile on the National Highway 10 on Wednesday around 2:00 pm. We will be working throughout the night," stated a PWD (National Highway) official. On August 13, rainfall recorded at Darjeeling was 44.9 mm, Kalimpong 58 mm, Kurseong 45.8 mm, Siliguri 29.4 mm and Gangtok 39 mm. There is an alert for heavy rainfall issued by the Indian Meteorological Department till 18th August.
