STF nabs FICN racketeer from Balurghat bus stand

Kolkata: The Special Task Force of Kolkata Police nabbed a Fake Indian Currency Note racketeer from Babughat bus stand with huge amount of FICN on Saturday night. On Saturday evening, the police got a tip-off from their source about a FICN racketeer, who was coming to Kolkata. During search STF officials found huge amount of currency of Rs 2,000 denomination. In the past two months, STF had nabbed several FICN racketeers with narcotics elements and came to know that a section of such racketeers are shifting to narcotics smuggling instead of FICN. Police are checking whether Yusuf has links racketeers who are smuggling narcotics elements and FICN.

Kolkata: The Special Task Force of Kolkata Police nabbed a Fake Indian Currency Note racketeer from Babughat bus stand with huge amount of FICN on Saturday night. Earlier, a few months ago, STF officials had recovered good amount of FICN as well as huge quantity of narcotics elements, which were supposed to be delivered to Bangladesh through borders of Bengal. According to the police, after huge recovery of quantity of narcotics elements in past two months, STF officials had intensified vigil across the city and also actively used their sources to obtain information about possible smuggling of drugs and FICN. On Saturday evening, the police got a tip-off from their source about a FICN racketeer, who was coming to Kolkata. Based on the information, the police started keeping strict vigil at Babughat bus stand along with the source, since evening. Around 10:05 pm, on Saturday, a police source identified a man who had just deboarded a bus and was walking along the Strand Road. As soon as the suspect was identified, police personnel surrounded him. The suspect identified as Yusuf Shaikh of Baishnabnagar in Malda was detained and his bag was searched. During search STF officials found huge amount of currency of Rs 2,000 denomination. Shaikh along with the bag containing money were taken to Maidan police station. Later it was confirmed that the notes were FICN. After counting it was found that Shaikh was carrying FICN worth Rs 1.92 lakh. After counting a case was initiated at Maidan police station against Yusuf and he was arrested around 11:30 pm on Saturday.
