Initiative to promote postal services

Kolkata: At a time when the practice of writing letters is dying out among today's youth, the department of posts in Bengal is banking upon "My Stamp" to make postal services attractive. My Stamp, the brand name for personalised sheets of postage stamps of India Post, was launched in 2011. While the My Stamp aims at providing personalised postal stamp experience, people can have his photograph, logos or photo printed on the stamps after paying the prescribed fee. "There are many schemes to boost postal services," said Arundhaty Ghosh, Member (Operations) of Postal Services Board, Department of Posts Ministry of Communication, on the sidelines of the inaugural session of 34th All India Postal Cultural meet at Mahajati Sadan on Wednesday. A special cover highlighting the innovative idea of changing the minds inmates of jail by culture therapy was also released on the occasion.

The cost price of a My Stamp is Rs 300," said Gautam Bhattacharya, chief postmaster General of West Bengal, Sikkim and Andaman and Nicobar Islands, told Millennium Post. My Stamp, the brand name for personalised sheets of postage stamps of India Post, was launched in 2011. My Stamp is for individuals and corporate customers. While the My Stamp aims at providing personalised postal stamp experience, people can have his photograph, logos or photo printed on the stamps after paying the prescribed fee. The four-day meet had music, short play, mono acting and dance competition. The closing ceremony of meet was held at Ahindra Mancha on Sunday.
