No heavy rain in city districts in next two days

The Western districts are likely to get moderate to heavy rainfall in the next two days, as predicted by the weather office. As a result of this, the Western districts like Purulia, Bankura, Birbhum, WestBurdwan, West Midnapore and Jhargram may receive moderate to heavy rainfall. There may be some spells of rain and thundershower in some South Bengal districts. According to the MeT office, heavy rainfall in the past few days in the city and other South Bengal districts has reduced the deficit in rainfall. Heavy rainfall in the past two days has left the northern fringes of the city inundated till Sunday morning.

Kolkata: The Regional Meteorological Centre at Alipore predicted on Sunday that there wont be heavy rainfall in the South Bengal districts, including the city, in the next 48 hours. The Western districts are likely to get moderate to heavy rainfall in the next two days, as predicted by the weather office. The city may receive scattered rainfall on Monday and Tuesday. The low pressure trough which was formed over Bay of Bengal has lost strength and is now situated over some parts of Bengal and Jharkhand. As a result of this, the Western districts like Purulia, Bankura, Birbhum, West Burdwan, West Midnapore and Jhargram may receive moderate to heavy rainfall. The temperature in the city during the day may go up slightly. There may be some spells of rain and thundershower in some South Bengal districts. The highest temperature in the city may hover between 30-32 degree Celsius in the next 24 hours and the lowest temperature may remain around 27 degree Celsius. The sky will be clear in the city from Tuesday. According to the MeT office, heavy rainfall in the past few days in the city and other South Bengal districts has reduced the deficit in rainfall. A senior weather official said that there may be scattered rainfall in the entire state in the next 48 hours, apart from Western districts which will witness heavy rainfall. The temperature in all the South Bengal districts will remain normal. Heavy rainfall in the past two days has left the northern fringes of the city inundated till Sunday morning. People faced difficulties in some parts of Chinar Park area and Haldiram. People were seen having trouble while crossing the roads in these areas. Some stretches in Behala and Thakurpukur also remained under water on Sunday. However, KMC officials believe that the accumulated water would soon be drained out.
