Aurobinda Setu to remain shut for health checkup

Kolkata: Aurobinda Setu will be closed from August 22 night till August 25 night for load capacity test. Kolkata Traffic Police has made elaborate arrangements for smooth traffic flow during this period. Vidyapati Setu, commonly known as Sealdah flyover, was closed for vehicular movement since August 15 for the load capacity test by Kolkata Metropolitan Development Authority. During this period North Kolkata bound vehicles were diverted through S N Banrejee Road via Dorina Crossing, Central Avenue and Colootola Street. South Kolkata bound vehicles were diverted through Amherst Street via Bowbazar, Wellington and Lenin Sarani.

According to police, to avoid congestion during diversion through CIT Road, it has been decided that movement of tram along CIT Road up to Bidhannagar Road railway Station will be suspended. Vehicles moving towards Khanna from Ultadanga will be diverted from Muchibazar via Southern side at Grade Road (Kabirajbagan Lane), Canal East Road, Canal West Road, Nirad Bihari Mallick Street, R.D.Street and Aurobinda Sarani to reach Khanna Crossing. Ultadanga-bound vehicles coming from Khanna crossing will be diverted from Ultadanga Main Road and R D Street Crossing via Ultadanga Road, Canal West Road, Canal East Road, northern side at Grade Road (Arif Road) to reach Ultadanga Main Road in order to reach Ultadanga. Buses from routes 201, S-21, KB-16, New Town to Dankuni, AC-35, 32A, Bagbazar to Garia, Haroa to Dankuni, 91C, Paikpara to Garia, Belurmath to Garia, Dakshineswar to Naktala, Dankuni to Kamalgazi, JM-2 and Shyambazar to Polerhat will be diverted from Shyambazar Five Point Crossing via R G Kar Road, Patipukur Underpass, Lake Town and VIP Road for to and fro journey. Buses from routes 215A, 215A/1, L-238, 44A, Salt Lake to Japani Gate, Tegharia to Howrah and Salt Lake to Tikiapara will be diverted from HUDCO Crossing via CIT Road, Kankurgachi, Manicktala Crossing and Vivekananda Road. Buses from routes 30C/1, 217A, 217, KB-21, 46A and 260 will be diverted from HUDCO Crossing via CIT Road – Kankurgachi, Phoolbagan, Narkeldanga Main Road, Rajabazar, APC Road for their to and fro journey. Buses from routes KB-22, K-1 and 007 will be diverted from HUDCO crossing via Lake Town, Jessore Road, Patipukur Underpass, R G Kar Road, Kolkata Station/Shyambazar Five Point Crossing for their to and fro journey. Buses from route No 211, 211A, 211B and New Barrackpore to Howrah will be diverted from C R Avenue/Aurobinda Sarani Crossing via Jatindra Mohan Avenue, Bhupen Bose Avenue, Shyambazar Five Point Crossing, R G Kar Road, Patipukur Underpass and Jessore Road for their to and fro journey. Vidyapati Setu, commonly known as Sealdah flyover, was closed for vehicular movement since August 15 for the load capacity test by Kolkata Metropolitan Development Authority. The flyover was opened for vehicular traffic on Sunday afternoon. During this period North Kolkata bound vehicles were diverted through S N Banrejee Road via Dorina Crossing, Central Avenue and Colootola Street. South Kolkata bound vehicles were diverted through Amherst Street via Bowbazar, Wellington and Lenin Sarani.
