Truck operators withdraw indefinite strike

Kolkata: The truck operators on Wednesday withdrew their indefinite strike started on Monday. They assured that trucks will run normally from Thursday. "State Transport minister Suvendu Adhikari has assured us that he will accept our demands and meet us on August 28. But if our demands are not met then we will resume our indefinite strike on September 9," said Sajal Ghosh, joint secretary of Federation of West Bengal Truck Operators Association (WBTOA). WBTOA, along with Posta Goods Transport Operators' Association, went for an indefinite truck strike and demanded implementation of revision of 'Safe Axle Weights' for goods vehicles and stopping police harassment of truck drivers on the road.
