Kolkata: Air is yet to clear on the Shakespeare Sarani accident case, with identification of another person who was in the Jaguar with Raghib Parvez at the time of accident. During interrogation, Raghib stated that one of his friends was also in the car at the time of accident, who had fled with him. After his statement, CCTV footages were scrutinised again, where police found presence of the second person. On Thursday, Arsalan, Raghib and their maternal uncle Md Hamza were produced at Bankshall Court. Though Arsalan and Hamza were granted bail, Raghib has been remanded to police custody till September 3. Significantly, the defense counsel did not even appeal for his bail. Police are also mulling to initiate case against other family members of Parvez, for misleading them. After Raghib was arrested, investigating officers grilled him throughout the night. During interrogation, Raghib stated that he and one of his friends were coming back from a birthday party. He was going to Salt Lake in order to drop his friend there. But all of a sudden, they got in touch with another friend and went towards Kyd Street. But at the last moment, the second friend refused to meet. As a result, Raghib turned his car and was going towards Park Circus in order to go onto Maa flyover. After getting this information, Raghibs friend was detained and questioned. However, police did not disclose his name as he is a witness to the case. During the hearing, the defense counsel argued for Arsalan and Hamzas bail, as they were charged with causing disappearance of evidences, providing shelter and allowing the accused to flee. However, he did not utter a word about Raghibs bail. Sources claimed that it was almost a matter of surety that Raghib will not be granted bail as he had fled the country after committing the crime. Arsalan and Hamzas bail was eventually granted against bail bond worth Rs 5,000. Their passports will have to be submitted to the police as well. Meanwhile, Raghib was produced with charges which were earlier slapped on Arsalan. Sources informed that although none of the other members of the Parvez family has been booked till Thursday, police are mulling to initiate case against them as they had misled investigators by framing Arsalan as the offender.
