Mamata hopes Malayalees will overcome pain caused by flood

Kolkata: Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday wished Malayalees a happy Onam and hoped that they would overcome the pain of destruction caused by flood in Kerala this year. We are sure you will overcome the pain of the destruction caused by the devastating Kerala floods and prepare for a bountiful harvest next year," Banerjee tweeted. As Kerala struggles to recover, research has highlighted that floods triggered by heavy rain has left reservoirs and dams highly prone to earthquakes. Of these 21 are now highly prone to tremors, a phenomenon called Reservoir-Induced Seismicity (RIS), according to the latest Geographic Information System (GIS) analysis. Such huge water columns increase the stress on the earth crust, the infiltration of water from the reservoir reduces the effective stress.
