Kolkata: Those persons, who were found carrying meat from the NRS Medical College canteen on Tuesday, have made some startling revelation in the course of investigation. They allegedly claimed that they were taking the excess meat to the SSKM Hospital. The claims will be verified as the investigation progresses. The NRS Medical College and Hospital ordered a detailed probe into the incident after the incident came to light. The hospital authorities are yet to know if the meat was seized while being transported to the SSKM Hospital on the day of the incident. Tension sparked among the patients and their family members on Tuesday morning after some staff members of the hospital spotted a taxi carrying some chicken out of the hospital. The staff members initially thought the meat might have been rotten. As the matter came to light, the patients and their family members started agitation inside the hospital complex on the day of the incident alleging that rotten chicken were being taken out of the hospital canteen. They also alleged that meat were kept in the taxi in order to transport them to some other place. The probe has been initiated to ascertain where the taxi driver was taking the meat to. The hospital authorities also ordered that the meat which was there in the canteen be tested in the laboratory. Senior officials of the hospital following the incident assured that they would not comprise on the quality of the food that is served to the patients and hence a high-level committee had been formed to know about the incident. The canteen staff members have already been interrogated in this connection so far. Some people claimed that there was an attempt to send the meat to another hospital. The NRS Medical College and Hospital authorities are looking into the incident. Steps would be taken if anybody is found guilty of transporting meat from one hospital to another.
