State govt planning to felicitate Abhijit Banerjee

Kolkata: The Bengal government is planning to organise a grand felicitation for Nobel laureate Abhijit Banerjee, senior minister Partha Chatterjee said on Tuesday. "We are planning to organize a grand felicitation for Nobel laureate Abhijit Banerjee," Chatterjee said. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday congratulated Abhijit Banerjee for winning the Nobel Prize for Economics. "Hearty congratulations to Abhijit Banerjee, an alumnus of South Point School & Presidency College Kolkata, for winning the Nobel Prize in Economics. Abhijit is an alumunus of South Point School in the city and Presidency College, Calcutta, where he completed his BSC degree in economics in 1981.

"We are planning to organize a grand felicitation for Nobel laureate Abhijit Banerjee," Chatterjee said. The date for the programme is yet to be finalised. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday congratulated Abhijit Banerjee for winning the Nobel Prize for Economics. "Hearty congratulations to Abhijit Banerjee, an alumnus of South Point School & Presidency College Kolkata, for winning the Nobel Prize in Economics. Another Bengali has done the nation proud. We are overjoyed," the Chief Minister said in a tweet. Abhijit is an alumunus of South Point School in the city and Presidency College, Calcutta, where he completed his BSC degree in economics in 1981. He received his PhD in 1988 from Harvard University. The 58-year-old is currently the Ford Foundation.
