Kolkata: Drawing up "Vision 10 and Vision 20" plan for better performance and development in the next 10-20 years, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday said the states Gross Domestic Product has gone up by 2.5 times in the past eight years. Banerjee said in 2011 when the Trinamool Congress-led government came to power in Bengal, the state GDP was Rs 4.74 lakh and in 2018 it is Rs 11.55 lakh crore. "See the jump, it is over 2.5 times. Compare the performance of the state government from 1947 when the state was divided and India got Independence and today you will find that Trinamool Congress has gone excellent work in the past eight years." Banerjee said projects like Kanyashree, Sabuj Sathi, Sabuj Shree, Utkarsh Bangla and Khadya Sathi have helped crores of people in the state. "These projects have pushed Bengal forward," she maintained. Banerjee thanked the police for maintaining enviable law and order situation during the Durga Puja. "Not a single untoward incident took place during the Puja and the grand Carnival on Red Road was a great success. I thank the police personnel for their excellent service," she said. "Kali Puja, Chaath Puja and Jagadhatri Puja will be held soon and I hope police will excellently manage the law and order situation too." She further added: "We are ready to accept anything good from anyone for the good of Bengal and we all want that the state should reach the top in every sphere of life." Congratulating Abhijit Vinayak Banerjee, she said: "I am very happy that he has got the Nobel prize. Earlier, there have been Nobel laureates from Bengal and the news of Banerjee getting the prize has made every Bengali proud." She also added: "The news of Sourav Ganguly becoming the president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has also made every one of us very happy. Dalmiaji was its president but Sourav getting the chair at such an early age is commendable."
