Presidency to hold student council elections on Nov 14

Kolkata: Presidency University (PU) student council elections will be held on November 14. The announcement comes just three days after the Higher Education department issued a notification giving the go-ahead for four universities, namely Presidency, Jadavpur, Rabindra Bharati and Diamond Harbour, to hold student elections as and when they "deem fit". "Voting, counting as well as the declaration of election results will be on November 14, while the council formation will take place on November 15. The elections will be held for selection in five posts of the student council that include president, vice-president, general secretary, assistant general secretary and secretary of girls' common room. Five student wings of different political parties will be contesting the elections, namely Independent Consolidation, Student Federation of India, All India Democratic Students' Organisation, All India Students' Association and All India Students' Federation.
