Elderly citizen s death Cops to challenge court order to cancel bail of accused

Kolkata: Kolkata Police will move upper court with an appeal to cancel the bail of the accused lawyer, Tarit Sikdar, inthe death case of an elderly man in Bhownipore. When Ramesh protested and got down from his car, Sikdar came out of his car and slapped him. He was arrested after a brief interrogation and was produced at the Alipore Court. During the court session, lawyers of Alipore Court stood for Sikdar and stated that Sikdar is not responsible for Ramesh's death. Later, it was decided that the police will move upper court challenging the Alipore Court's order with prayer for cancelation of Sikdar's bail.

Kolkata: Kolkata Police will move upper court with an appeal to cancel the bail of the accused lawyer, Tarit Sikdar, in the death case of an elderly man in Bhownipore. A senior official of Kolkata Police on Tuesday said the police will challenge Alipore Courts order as soon as the vacation ends and regular bench resumes. Ramesh Behl (65) died on Thursday. He was the owner of a private security service provider. He was moving into his car to reach office before the incident took place. As he was not fit, he took time to get into the car. At that moment, Sikdar, who was behind him, honked repeatedly. Despite Rameshs driver asked Sikdar to wait, he did not bother to listen to him. On the contrary, he drove his vehicle and hit Rameshs car. When Ramesh protested and got down from his car, Sikdar came out of his car and slapped him. Ramesh lost balance and fell on the pavement and Sikdar fled the spot in his car. Ramesh was declared brought dead at a hospital after a few minutes. After his death the incident Rameshs family lodged a complaint against the driver of the car. On Monday, Sikdar went to Bhownipore police station and surrendered before the police. He was arrested after a brief interrogation and was produced at the Alipore Court. During the court session, lawyers of Alipore Court stood for Sikdar and stated that Sikdar is not responsible for Rameshs death. Sikdar while entering Bhownipore police station claimed that it was an accident. He did not slapped Ramesh. However, later court granted him bail with several conditions. After Sikdar was granted bail, investigating officials informed senior police officials of Kolkata Police. Later, it was decided that the police will move upper court challenging the Alipore Courts order with prayer for cancelation of Sikdars bail.
