City districts likely to get rain induced by low pressure

The sky will remain clear on Sunday, the day of Kali Puja, said the Met department. One or two places in Kolkata is also likely to receive heavy rainfall on Thursday. "There will be heavy to very heavy rainfall at one or two places in the districts of Murshidabad, Birbhum, Bankura, Purulia and West Burdwan on Thursday and heavy rain at one or two places in the districts of Darjeeling, Jalpaiguri, Cooch Behar, Kalimpong, Alipurduar, Malda, North and South Dinajpur in North Bengal and Purulia, Bankura , Birbhum and Murshidabad in the western part of Bengal," said Sanjib Bandopadhyay , deputy director, India Meteorological Department, Kolkata. Apart from Kolkata, the weather office predicted heavy rain was likely at one or two places in East and West Midnapore, East Burdwan, Jhargram, Nadia, Howrah, Hooghly, Malda, North and South Dinajpur on Thursday. "Thunderstorm with lightning is likely to occur at isolated places in districts of Bengal on Thursday and Gangetic West Bengal on Friday," a senior official of the weather office said. The fishermen have been warned against venturing towards Odisha coast. Weather conditions will improve from Saturday and on Sunday, the day of Kali Puja, there is no forecast of rainfall and the sky will remain clear.
