Rabindranath Ghosh in hospital after cardiac arrest

Darjeeling: North Bengal Development department minister Rabindranath Ghosh was airlifted in an air ambulance to Kolkata on Sunday from Cooch Behar. "On the intervention of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Ghosh was flown from Cooch Behar to Kolkata for specialised treatment. The medical board will hold a meeting on Monday morning to discuss the next course of action. Hearing about Ghosh's ailment, TMC leaders and supporters made a beeline at the nursing home in Cooch Behar. 66-year-old Ghosh, who hails from Cooch Behar, is a front-rung TMC leader of North Bengal.

Darjeeling: North Bengal Development department minister Rabindranath Ghosh was airlifted in an air ambulance to Kolkata on Sunday from Cooch Behar. He had suffered a cardiac arrest on Saturday morning. "On the intervention of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Ghosh was flown from Cooch Behar to Kolkata for specialised treatment. He has been admitted at the SSKM Hospital. A medical board has been constituted. His condition is reported to be stable now," stated Binay Krishna Burman, Trinamool president, Cooch Behar district. A seven member medical board has been formed under Dr Saroj Mondal. The medical board will hold a meeting on Monday morning to discuss the next course of action. Ghoshs family members stated that he had complained of chest pain on returning from Kolkata on Friday. He had taken medicines for the same on his own. The minister had been busy overseeing preparations for the Chief Ministers two day long visit to Cooch Behar, where she will be arriving on Monday. A helipad is being constructed in the Rajbari stadium area and Ghosh had been overseeing its construction work on Friday. In the wee hours of Saturday, his chest pain became unbearable. He was immediately rushed to a private nursing home. "The minister has suffered a cardiac arrest. His condition is stable. However, he is under constant observation and monitoring," said Dr Subash Saha, the cardiologist who was treating Ghosh, on Saturday. Hearing about Ghoshs ailment, TMC leaders and supporters made a beeline at the nursing home in Cooch Behar. 66-year-old Ghosh, who hails from Cooch Behar, is a front-rung TMC leader of North Bengal.
