Kolkata: The Anti-Human Trafficking Unit (AHU) of Kolkata Police has busted four sex rackets on Sunday night, which were running under the façade of spas and salons in the city. A total of 30 persons have been arrested and 29 women who were forced to do such work were rescued. According to police, a few days ago AHU officials came to know about some spas and salons where suspicious activities were going on. To know more, police engaged sources in order to get confirmed information. On Sunday, police came to know about four such places where sex rackets have been going on for some time. As soon as the information came, four teams were formed. The first team conducted a raid at a flat located in Prince Anwar Shah Road and nabbed eight persons including the brothel manager red-handed. Seven sex workers, who were the victims of human trafficking, were rescued. The second team raided a spa styled as Sweet & Shower Family Saloon and Spa located at 1, Bhagwan Mahavir Sarani in Bhowanipore and found that a brothel was running there. During the raid, AHU officials arrested 12 persons including the manager and two pimps from the place, while 10 sex workers were rescued. Meanwhile, another AHU team raided a flat located at Rashbehari Avenue and found a brothel was running there with six sex workers. Police arrested two customers and the brothel manager and the victims of human trafficking were rescued accordingly. The last raid was conducted on Sunday night at a beauty parlour styled as Guys and Dolls Beauty Parlour located at 1A, Mirza Ghalib Street in New Market area and arrested six persons including the manager, two pimps and three customers. Six sex workers were rescued as well. Police later came to know that the rescued women who were engaged in flesh trade come from needy families and they were brought in the city from adjacent districts with the lure of money. It may be recalled that a few days ago, police had busted a sex racket in New Alipore area after a woman who was brought for flesh trade managed to flee and informed police. After busting the racket, names of these four brothels cropped up.
