Kolkata: After Didi Ke Bolos immense success through which lakhs of people from across the state registered their complaints and also gave their suggestions to the platform to draw attention, a facsimile project will be taken up in the rural areas which has been named Cholo Grame (Go to Villages). In this, senior administrative officials in the districts including the District Magistrates would visit the villages, spend time there and listen to the grievances of the beneficiaries of various state government schemes. Following the Chief Ministers instructions, the Hooghly district administration has started a camp for two days on December 12-13 at Balagarh to ensure that people can avail the benefits of all the government schemes. During the first day of the camp on Thursday, the senior officials inquired if the villagers were facing problems while availing the services. Banerjee, during a meeting at the state Secretariat a few months ago, asked the District Magistrates (DMs) to hold camps in the villages thereby giving a platform to the masses to come up with their problems and provide suggestions to the government. Many of the beneficiaries in the villages do not often get the opportunity to express their concerns to the top government officials. To make the delivery mechanism more effective and fix accountability of the government employees who deliver the services of the various government schemes to the people at the grassroots level, Banerjee came up with the idea where the officers would be assigned for doorstep redressal of public grievances. They would try to solve an issue instantly and if unable to do so, they would take a note of it and give a time limit within which the matter would be resolved. During their visits, the officials would also talk to the Panchayat functionaries for smooth implementation of various schemes. Another purpose of the campaign is to make people aware of the host of schemes which are being run by the state government. This two-pronged approach of the Mamata Banerjee government to address peoples grievances is all set to make a mark bringing about closer interaction between the government and the governed. Through Didi Ke Bolo campaign, people have been able to reach out to the highest possible level of administration and now, the Cholo Grame would help the masses in the villages to talk to the officials at their doorsteps.
