Deba Yadav, 32, the taxi driver was arrested from the Anandapur space in south Kolkata. Sections charged on him 354 (outrage of modesty), 354 A (sexual harassment) 354 D (stalking) and 509 (use of obscene phrase or gesture) of the Indian Penal Code, mentioned by the officer Gariahat police station where FIR got registered.

She was on the wide road between Ballygunge Phanri and Gariaha around 1pm. When she initially spotted the taxi driver, he made lewd gesture on her, she ignored it. After that taxi driver followed her contiuously & she asked her chauffeur to overtake the taxi and forced it to a stop, she stepped out of the car and confronted the cabby. The actor informed traffic sergeant and lodged an FIR at Gariahat Police station against Yadav.

Police said Yadav had first winked at the actor just after crossing the Ballygunge Phanri traffic lights. “He then deliberately kept following her. The accused then overtook her car and made vulgar gestures.

Chakraborty said “I was confident that the administration wouldn’t let him go scot-free. “Thanks to Kolkata Police, he is now in custody.” She had a message for women who underwent through these situation, “We should all speak up and protest otherwise, these people will think they can get away with anything.”
