Eminent Kolkata fashion designer Sharbari datta, was found unresponsive in her ground-floor washroom. Possibly died of cerebral stroke somewhere between 2am and 4am. She was found by her daughter in law around 11pm after at least 19 hour of lying down, police official stated this.

She was 73 year old and lived with her son Amalin, daughter in law Kanaklata and adult grandchildren all of them lived in same house but in upper floor. The family said Sharbhari was not at home, and they didn’t checked on her almost entire day.

Sharbari Dutta was the daughter of Bengali poet Ajit Dutta. She made a mark in designing by men`s ethnic wear. Her label became popular for a unique blend of ethnicity and modernity in fabric and vibrancy in colour. Ms Dutta established her own brand ``Shunyaa`` with outlets in Kolkata. She had also immersed  into women`s wear and was a known face in fashion world

She styled personalities ranging from sportsmen Sachin Tendulkar to current Pakistan PM Imran Khan and Sourav Ganguly to Bengali actor Prosenjit Chatterjee and singer-composer Anupam Roy.

Social media was in a grief of her death, her friends and colleagues expressed their emotions by praising her designs and sharing a memory with her. "Sharbaridi had introduced new trends in men`s wear and made it look ethnic, fashionable and yet contemporary," actor Prosenjit Chatterjee said, recalling he had first flaunted an attire designed by Dutta 20-22 years ago at a fashion event.

Actor Rituparna Sengupta said Ms Dutta`s death had shattered her. She had an ever-smiling face. She had designed my husband`s ethnic wear which he proudly dons on special occasions," Ms Sengupta said.

Ms Dutta`s colleague in the fashion designing fraternity and BJP leader Agnimitra Paul posted on Facebook, "Didi your absence will be always felt. Wherever you are, stay well Sharbaridi. Om Shanti."

Singers Parama Banerjee and Ujjaini Mukherjee, actors Srabonty Chatterjee, Rukmini Moitra and Pujarini Ghosh and theatre personality-director Debesh Chatterjee also expressed grief and shock over Ms Dutta`s death.
